Gear selector boxes can wear in multiple ways, most Vespa riders will blame a worn cruxiform when the motor starts to jump out of gear, but the selector box can be just as much to blame, any wear can cause the selector to place the cruxiform slightly out of position, and with a worn cruxiform this can be the cause of gear jumping.
